The time taken to achieve the qualifications depends on what courses you decide to take and what your previous experience is.

If you have previous experience in car repairs, have previously worked in a garage and are familiar with the typical engine components and tools, you may be able to speak to the training provider and start at a higher level than novices. This could mean that qualifications take much less time to achieve.
